Mirador del Compás
During your holiday in Benalmadena you will find there is never a shortage of activities to keep you occupied and at a short journey of around 14km from Benalmadena you will come across the traditional ‘white’ village of Mijas which sits in the mountains and offers stunning views along the entire mediterranean coastline and the Sierra de Mijas from the Mirador del Compás. Once you manage to divert your gaze from the incredible scenery, you can explore the charming Japanese gardens and stumble across the Chapel of the Virgin, now a popular attraction, which was originally hollowed out of rock and discovered at the beginning of the 17th century.
Teleferico Benalmadena
Another one of the many things to do in Benalmadena is this 15-minute cable car journey that takes you from the picturesque coastline of Benalmadena to the summit of Monte Calamorro. Maybe not for those who suffer from a fear of heights since this cable car reaches heights of more than 700m but the expansive panoramic views are definitely worth it and once at the top of Monte Calamorro you’ll have amazing vistas.
Monte Calomorro
At 800m above sea level this mountain offers a perfect day out in Malaga. Footpaths at the top will guide you to numerous viewpoints offering awe inspiring views of Benalmadena, the stunning Mediterranean and the Malaga coastline and skyline or even on the horizon the snow capped Sierra Nevada peaks. After taking the Teleferico from Benalmadena you will arrive at the mountain where you will find a host of hiking trails in which to lose yourself along the way. For animal lovers a number of bird and horse shows take place at specific times throughout the day and during the summer months a planetarium attraction opens up, meaning you can spend a warm, unforgettable summer evening beneath the stars.
Jardines del Muro
With views as far as the eye can see that even stretch to Gibraltar and the African coast on the clearest days, the Jardines del Muro offer tourists a place from which to capture that perfect picture or shameless selfie. Visit the Santo Domingo de Guzman church which is the oldest in the city or simply pack a picnic and a bottle of one of the best wines from Andalucia and enjoy a romantic evening under the setting sun in these charming gardens designed by the celebrated architect Cesar Manrique.
