Local Fairs in October

As the summer season comes to an end here on the Costa del Sol, it doesn’t mean that there isn’t plenty to do here while on holiday in Benalmadena. Here at the MAC Hotels we have put together a list of the local fairs and celebrations taking place in the picturesque towns in the Malaga region this month and which you can enjoy during your stay at the Hotel MAC Puerto Marina.

Torrox Fair

Although the town’s Patron Saint Day is the 5th of August, the sweltering summer heat means that the local fair and jubilant celebrations are delayed until the first weekend of September. During this celebration there are multitudes of mouth-watering local dishes and delicacies to try as well as live music amongst other fun activities to enjoy during your summer holiday.

Algatocin Fair

This picturesque village situated in the mountains is made up of those typically Andalusian white houses which have a Moorish origin. The local fair takes place in honour of Saint Francisco de Asís and Our Lady of the Rosario and during these 5 days the delicious local food is plentiful and there are workshops and sports activities to keep you entertained. Definitely worth the journey from your hotel in Benalmadena.

Fuengirola Fair

This very traditional Feria del Rosario centres its celebrations around the Mayoress of Fuengirola and the horse, which both take special importance during the week of celebration. During the trade fair which takes place from the 6th – 12th of October there are a number of activities to take part in. You will find the streets are filled with carriages and traditional costumes and parties carry on throughout the whole day. So get ready to party the night away on the Costa del Sol.

Chestnut fair in Pujerra

On October 28th the annual chestnut fair is held in the pretty little inland town of Pujerra. Once the chestnut gathering period is over, a full day of celebrations is organised with music, dancing and countless dishes all featuring the famed chestnut.
